Inviting Maslow to Tea: What We Learned from Showing Up for Each Other
Navigating what we need to thrive—individually and together—is no small feat. It never was. And in 2025, it feels like the rules have changed again. So where do we turn when we need direction, hope, or simply a place to catch our breath?
This month, we returned to something beautifully simple: gathering. Through a whirlwind of events, including the Northwest Events Show at the Get Happy Pavilion and Perk Events’ Women We Rise gathering in Seattle on April 3, we invited people into meaningful conversations built on shared experience. And what we found was nothing short of magical—mocktails, chocolate, and all.
Reimagining Success: Thriving Together
What happens when we choose to thrive not alone, but in community? When we trust in the power of presence and possibility over pressure and perfection?
This past month, we shared space with dozens of purpose-driven leaders, connectors, and community-builders. At the Northwest Events Show, we found ourselves among a vibrant collection of changemakers, all working toward something better. At Perk Events, our "speed coaching" circles sparked focused, vulnerable, forward-looking conversations with women ready to rise—together.
These weren’t just networking events. They were opportunities to reflect on something deeper:
What keeps you grounded when the world is anything but?
What gives you energy to show up again, and again, with curiosity and compassion?
Where does your creativity grow best—and with whom?
These aren’t shocking questions. They’re survival questions. And we're honored to hold space for the people brave enough to ask them.
The Agenda for a New Way Forward
At A Matter of Taste, our events are more than curated tastings—they're immersive containers for connection, resilience, and transformation. Here's the intentional flow we followed this past month:
1. Be Human Together
Before purpose, before planning—there’s presence. The smell of steeping tea, the quiet spark of a conversation starter, the invitation to "be welcome." Maslow’s hierarchy starts with the basics, and so do we. A sip, a snack, and a shared moment around the fire: I see you. You see me.
2. Share Purpose
We’re lucky to spend our days with people who believe that change is not only necessary, but possible—and already in motion. That shared belief is powerful. It builds trust instantly. From there, we work shoulder to shoulder.
3. Get Practical
Once connection is sparked, we get tactical. This month, we explored:
Regenerative chocolate as a conversation on ethical sourcing and value-driven indulgence.
Tea blending workshops as goal-setting and prioritization rituals.
Design thinking meets fine beverage experiences, built for resilience and readiness.
We build toolkits made not of theory but of experience—infused with discovery, reflection, and plenty of flavor.
4. Embody the Change
The change we foster doesn’t stop when the event ends. Whether it’s a thoughtful follow-up, a coaching session, or a spark of inspiration that redefines your morning routine, our goal is to make every tasting an entry point to something deeper and lasting.
We ask ourselves: How do we turn insight into action? The answers are often small, but powerful. A new mantra. A better question. A reawakened purpose.
What’s Next? Let’s Keep the Conversation Brewing
As we continue our Q2 focus on Sustainable Team Growth, we invite you to reflect on what structures support your own creativity and optimism—and how you can share those tools with your team.
We’re just getting started. Let’s keep showing up—with hope, with intention, and yes, with a cup of something delicious in hand.
