Finding Harmony through Flavor
Our portfolio of intentional celebrations has reached a new height- quite literally in the the skies at Smith Tower Observatory in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. Anchored by a stellar food and beverage team, the location is an homage to Seattle history and locally sourced food. We were honored to collaborate on a custom menu of sips and bites centered around an exploration of the Basic Tastes.
Curated tasting stations celebrating the Basic Tastes (salty, sour, bitter, sweet, and umami)
After a tour of the Smith Tower museum (an amazing collected history of Seattle inside what was for a long time the tallest building in the country) we welcomed our guests with a sip of bubbly and a glass of Ground Work Tea.
Visiting curated flavor stations featuring sips and bites to illustrate the basic tastes, our guests learned how each taste interacts with our senses and how we find it in foods.
Menu highlights to drool over!
Sweet Confession - Seasonal Fresh Fruit with Beechers cheeses
The Hidden Zest - Preserved Lemon with herbed goat cheese
Kimchi Confidential - Kimchi & fermented carrot grilled cheese
The Bitter Truth - Radicchio with gorgonzola & roasted hazelnuts
The Preservation Act - Seasonal Pickled vegetables
Crimson Whisper - Tomato salad with miso glaze
For the ‘main event,’ our team curated a sweet and savory flavor pairing exploration highlighting local makers and producers (including honey made from Smith Tower’s own bee hives!) From a "cookies and cream" sweet platter featuring Anh Oi Bakeshop cookies to some of our favorite produce and cured meat providers, we built a truly anchored-in-place experience for this team.
Seattle brought her gloomy best to this intimate dining experience!

A frequent post-workshop comment from our guests is “we’ve never done anything quite like this before.” Jennifer and I are continually inspired by the way our intentional approach opens hearts and minds to the possibilities of flavor and connection. Thanks to this team for coming along for this unforgettable experience!
