Sharing the bounty of our local community
A sense of place is a critical part of human existence, a feeling of home, relationships and connections that lays foundations for new learning and pride in performance. Going specifically local with our ingredient choices embeds our shared Seattle community in our workshops and events. We believe that collaborating better requires real experiences and real relationships to make positive memories that connect us.
A Matter of Taste began by highlighting single origin chocolates, tea, and spices, fostering the discussion of global tastes in personal experiences. Thinking globally to respect local messaging comes right back home to the PNW, where we have met so many artisans who are blending heritage, exposure, and respect into amazing foods and flavors we can respect and enjoy from our own hometown. We’re proud to be able to feature a wide variety of foods, tastes, and flavors in our public workshops and events.
“Our team loved how you incorporated local ingredients- like Kari Kari Chili Crisp and Frankie & Joe’s ice cream- into the tasting. We really appreciate the care you both put into creating a custom program for us”
-Liz, Sr. Admin, Food Team
That’s the goal we have for anyone at an A Matter of Taste experience. To feel supported in community while exploring new ideas, confident in identity while curious about new influences to investigate and share. We are happy and honored to make introductions and lift those who share our purpose, making something genuine to positively impact the lives of others.
Here’s a round-up of who we love to work with, and why!
In our experience partners, like The NA Sommelier, Mixed Pantry, Madre’s Kitchen, and Filigree & Shadow, we see individuals who grew personal experiences into unique curations of products and services that share their new perspective and welcome all of us in. Our experts are anchored in community, sharing knowledge generously and humbly. They offer their experience in hands-on discussions of how they learned what they know, and how we can build on what they’ve taught into our own understanding.
When sourcing local or artisanal ingredients, like Kari Kari Chili Crisp, Bonnie B’s range of pickled magic, or the creativity of Shared Cultures miso from SF and Iggy’s cultured beverages from right here in Seattle, we find makers following their passions to preserve their stories, honoring their cultures, and following their inspirations in the flavors they share with with us.
We craft experiences for our clients that align with our perspective, that collaborating better requires real experiences and real relationships to make positive memories that connect us. Gaining a better appreciation for the relationships available right here at home gives us all a better sense of how we are all connected.
